Application and development of copper pipe and stainless steel pipe

ABS engineering plastic pipes are manufactured using thermoplastic acrylic-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin through injection and extrusion processes. These pipes offer excellent resistance to corrosion, temperature fluctuations, and impact, making them suitable for demanding environments. However, their high cost limits their widespread use, typically restricting them to industrial water supply systems where performance is critical. As a result, their application remains relatively narrow.

Copper and stainless steel pipes were developed to address the issues of corrosion and scaling commonly found in galvanized steel pipes. Both materials provide superior durability and long-term performance, especially in hot water systems. However, due to their higher material and installation costs, they are primarily used in high-end residential buildings, commercial complexes, and high-rise office structures where quality and reliability are essential.

Copper pipes are usually joined using brazing techniques, while stainless steel pipes are typically connected through TIG welding or threaded connections. These methods ensure strong and leak-free joints, but they require skilled labor and specialized equipment, which further contributes to the overall cost.

Aluminum-plastic composite pipes are essentially reinforced polyethylene (PE) pipes. They consist of a central aluminum layer sandwiched between two layers of PE, creating a durable and lightweight composite structure. This design enhances the pipe's strength while maintaining flexibility, making it suitable for both visible and concealed installations.

In recent years, aluminum-plastic pipes have seen rapid adoption in urban residential construction due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of installation. However, the development of large-diameter versions has been slower because of the limitations in the strength of aluminum materials. Despite this, these pipes are favored for their minimal thermal expansion and contraction deformation, which reduces stress on fittings and joints.

Unfortunately, the market for aluminum-plastic pipes has become crowded with numerous manufacturers, leading to inconsistent product quality and unhealthy competition. Many producers lack proper standards, resulting in subpar materials that may not meet required specifications. Additionally, the quality of copper sleeve connectors used in these systems can vary significantly. Poor-quality joints often lead to leaks, causing serious issues in plumbing systems and resulting in costly repairs and maintenance.
