Electrostatic separation of waste plastics

Separation using plastics with different charging characteristics after electrostatic induction is independent of density. The method is to first dry the waste plastic and pulverize it into small pieces of 10mm2, preferably 6mm2 or less; add 1*10-6 grade modifiers and surfactants, etc. to improve its frictional chargeability; stir it vigorously to make it rub When charged, different plastics produce opposite charges. When the charged plastic falls through a 120kV high-voltage electric field, it is attracted by the two poles. The positively charged person is attracted to the negative side and the negatively charged person is attracted to the negative side. When the charged plastic falls through the high-voltage electric field, it is attracted by the two poles. The positively charged person is attracted to the negative side and the negatively charged person is attracted to the positive side. There are two baffles at the bottom of this unit that allow the uncharged plastic particles to return to the unit for separation.

In general, the greater the difference in the charge generated by the friction of different plastics, the better the separation effect and the higher the efficiency. Conversely, the greater the difficulty of separation. This method is most suitable for the separation of a mixture of only two plastics. If it is a mixture of various plastics, it is difficult to achieve the desired separation effect. Only polyvinyl chloride can be easily separated from various mixtures because polyvinyl chloride is always negatively charged relative to other plastics.
