American research institution: short male or longer life

American researchers have recently discovered that shorter men may live longer because they are more likely to have a gene associated with longevity.

Professor Bradley Wilcox of the University of Hawaii's John Burns School of Medicine and colleagues studied the health information of more than 8,000 Japanese Americans for nearly 50 years. They found that short men were more likely to have a protective longevity gene called "FOXO3." In addition, short men have a lower blood insulin level and a lower risk of cancer. The researchers also stressed that further research is needed to confirm this result, such as confirming whether the association between short and longevity is applicable to other races.

However, not all scientists recognize this connection between height and longevity. Previous studies have shown the opposite result, finding that the taller live longer.
