Recovery of magnesium from scrapped cars has potential

The recovery of magnesium from scrapped cars is becoming more and more important for automakers. At present, the developed countries recover about 75% of the magnesium from scrapped vehicles. In Europe, the goal of the Waste Car Act is that by January 1, 2006, the recovery of magnesium from scrapped cars should exceed 85%, and by 2015 it will reach 95%. By 2015, the annual amount of magnesium recovered in Europe will reach 30,000-50,000 tons.
