Three common rice packaging methods

【Chinese Packaging Network News】 rice packaging form is determined by a certain packaging materials, commonly used rice packaging materials are mainly plastic woven bags and composite plastic bags two, so the corresponding rice packaging form is divided into ordinary packaging , Vacuum packaging and inflatable packaging three, ordinary packaging that is made of plastic woven bag material processing and processing; vacuum packaging and inflatable packaging is made of composite plastic bag material.

1, ordinary rice packaging

The rice is usually wrapped in a plastic woven bag made of polypropylene or other material and sealed with a seam. No fresh-keeping technology was applied during the packaging process. The effect of this kind of packaging on pest control, mildew proofing and fresh-keeping of rice was relatively poor. Generally, it only served to contain food. However, due to the strong tensile strength of plastic woven bags, heavy packaging of rice uses such packaging, and the shelf life is about three months.

Plastic woven bags are made of plastic films made of narrow strips of a certain width, or woven from plastic braids with high strength and low elongation by hot stretching. Plastic woven bag is much stronger than plastic film bag, and it is not easy to be deformed and has good impact resistance. At the same time, because of the woven pattern on the surface of the woven bag, the non-slip performance is improved and the stacking during storage is facilitated. The packaging of rice weighing more than 5kg is almost entirely made of plastic woven bag material.

The use of plastic woven bags to package rice, the packaging is simple, poor moisture resistance of materials, poor barrier properties, easy to mold oxidation of rice, insect pests are more serious, especially in the storage period is shorter in summer.

2. Vacuum packaging of rice

The use of vacuum packaging can reduce the O2 concentration in the storage package, inhibit the respiration intensity of the rice and mold reproduction, prevent rice aging, mildew, worms, etc., to better maintain the quality of rice. At present, the vacuum degree of rice vacuum packaging is generally between -0.07~-0.09 kPa. Due to the large degree of vacuum, the packaging material tightly wrapped rice, the packaging bag is easily punctured by rice grains, resulting in failure of vacuum packaging. In the process of circulation, the friction, collision and dropping between the bag and the bag also easily cause the bag to break. Therefore, when packaging fresh rice, it must be combined with the circulation environment in order to achieve good results.

3, rice inflatable packaging

Inflatable packaging is generally filled with CO2 and N2, which are colorless, odorless, non-toxic gases, and have relatively stable chemical properties. Rice has the ability to adsorb CO?, forming a protective layer, making rice in a "sleep" state, so that fatty acids, total acids, reducing sugars, viscosity change is relatively small, extending the effective shelf life; filling N2 reduces the O2 concentration of the storage environment, The inhibition of microbial growth in rice plays an important role in mitigating changes in quality. Most studies show that inflatable packaging can effectively maintain the quality of rice and prevent mildew and worms in rice.

Vacuum packaging and inflated packaging are made of rice composite plastic bags. Composite plastic bags are composed of high-barrier packaging materials such as EVOH, PVDC, PET, PA and PE, PP and other multilayer plastic packaging. Such packaging is better than plastic woven bags for moisture-proof, mildew-proof and insect-proof effects. In addition, the pattern and trademark are clearly printed. Text and bar code are clearly visible and easy to attract customers and promote sales. The majority of rice weighing less than 5kg is packed in composite plastic bags.

The use of composite plastic bags to package rice is generally assisted by heat sealing after vacuum or inflating techniques. Due to the compactness of the material itself and the vacuum and aeration treatment, the problem of mildew proofing, insect repellence and durability of rice packaging is basically solved, and it has certain promotion and practical value. However, when the composite bag is sealed and sealed, wrinkling is likely to occur and the aesthetic appearance of the bag will be affected. In addition, the compressive strength of the composite bag is not enough, and some packages using the inflation method often have a bag-breaking phenomenon during transportation, thereby affecting the shelf life of the rice. In addition, plastic bags are difficult to degrade, post-processing is difficult, and plastic products are toxic to make plastic bags subject to certain restrictions.

The difference in packaging materials determines the differences in the packaging formats of rice. With the advancement in the level of science and technology, it is believed that rice packaging materials will be further improved and the packaging forms will be more and more diverse.
