The "core" world within the connotation of wooden doors

1. Solid Wood Panels
As the name suggests, solid wood panels are made entirely from natural wood. These panels offer a strong and durable structure with a natural grain appearance. However, due to their high cost and the complex manufacturing process involved, they are not commonly used in general interior decoration. Solid wood panels are typically categorized based on the type of wood or the specific board name, without a standardized size specification.

2. Plywood
Plywood, also known as veneer board, is a multi-layered panel constructed by bonding thin sheets of wood together. It's one of the most widely used materials in handmade furniture. Plywood comes in different thicknesses, usually measured in PCT (1 PCT = 1 mm), such as 3PCT, 5PCT, 9PCT, 12PCT, 15PCT, and 18PCT, making it versatile for various applications.

3. Decorative Panels
Decorative panels, often referred to as surface boards, are designed with a single-sided decorative finish. They are created by slicing a thin layer of real wood (about 0.2 mm thick) and attaching it to a core material like plywood. These panels are considered high-end finishing materials and are increasingly popular in modern design, offering both aesthetics and durability.

4. Blockboard
Blockboard, also known as large-core board, consists of two outer layers of veneer with a core made of strips of wood. Compared to thinner core boards, blockboard is more affordable but has lower bending strength in the vertical direction. However, its lateral strength is relatively high, making it suitable for certain structural uses.

5. Particle Board
Particle board is manufactured from wood chips and sawdust mixed with adhesive and pressed into shape. It can be divided into extruded and flat types depending on the pressing method. The main advantage of particle board is its low cost, but it suffers from poor strength and is not ideal for heavy-duty furniture or large structures.

6. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)
MDF, or medium density fiberboard, is made from wood fibers combined with synthetic resins. It’s available in three density levels: high, medium, and low. MDF is easy to cut, shape, and paint, making it a favorite for furniture and cabinetry. While it's widely used abroad, the quality of MDF in China still needs improvement compared to international standards.

7. Fireproof Board
Fireproof board is a type of decorative panel made from silicon or calcium-based materials, along with fibers, lightweight aggregates, and chemical additives. It undergoes autoclaving to enhance its fire-resistant properties. Though primarily used for fire protection, it also offers aesthetic value. High-quality fireproof boards are more expensive than regular decorative panels, and they require special adhesives during installation.

8. Melamine Board
Melamine board is a composite panel coated with a melamine-impregnated paper that gives it a variety of colors and patterns. It is commonly used for wall paneling and cabinetry. However, it is not recommended for flooring due to its low wear resistance. Melamine boards are popular for their affordability and ease of maintenance.
