Paper Pack Physical Performance Test Operation Guide - CMT & CCT Test after Corrugating

For the CMT and CCT tests, the country is still relatively unfamiliar, but foreign demand is strong. Our CMT&CCT supporting laboratory lab equipment and CMT&CCT accessories are mainly sold abroad. The flat pressure index is mentioned in the technical requirements of the new standard of corrugated medium GB/T13023-2008. The specific requirements are shown in Table 1. The old standard GB/T13023-1991 does not mention this technical index. From the structural analysis of corrugated board, corrugated board is composed of liner paper, facing paper, crepe paper and medium paper. Corrugated paper plays a supporting role like bones. It has more impact on strength than face paper and liner paper, so CMT and CCT of corrugated paper Testing becomes very important. CMT test, national standard GB/T2679.6 and ISO7263 have provisions; CCT test has no national standard, but TAPPI standard T843 mentioned this test.

For the carton factory, the flat compressive strength and side pressure strength of the corrugated cardboard are important factors affecting the rigidity and elasticity of the corrugated board. If the strength of the corrugated paper is too low, it will lead to the return of the customer; if the strength is too high, the cost of the required base paper will be high, which will cause the cost of the base paper to increase. If CMT test and CCT test are done before cardboard is made, knowing these two indexes can avoid the occurrence of the above two conditions and achieve the purpose of meeting the customer's requirements without wasting the raw paper.

The purpose of the experiment was to evaluate the flat pressure performance and edge pressure performance of corrugated and corrugated cardboard boxes after molding by using CMT and CCT tests of the corrugated base papers.

Figure 1 CMT test CCT test principle: After a certain size of sample is creased on the flute meter, it is first placed in the CCT attachment and then placed on the compressive strength tester along with the attachment for compression until the corrugation is crushed and its compressive strength is measured. Sampling Use a ring pressure sampler to accurately cut 152 mm x 12.7 mm specimens with a minimum of 10 specimens.

The instrument parameter settings are first switched to CMT mode, set the test speed 12.5mm/min, and set the platen spacing (pitch size is slightly higher than the height of the sample).

Starting up, the sample preparation starts the flute instrument. When the press roll is heated to (175±8)°C, the sample is fed vertically into the feed inlet. After starting up, place the sample from the crucible on the shaping comb, and then press the comb teeth on the sample. Then use a piece of tape about 120mm (width not less than 16mm) on the crest of the crucible and use metal. The plate is held firmly, so that it can be fixed by adhesion. Carefully remove the comb teeth, remove the sample from the creping mold and measure the compressive strength immediately or after 30 minutes of constant temperature and humidity.

Place the specimen and place the specimen in the center of the platen under the compression tester.

The test instrument is preheated for 10 minutes before testing to make it reach the best state. First press the "Zero" key to clear the instrument. Then press the "Test" button to start the test procedure until the sample is crushed and the test is complete. The test result is displayed on the screen after the test is completed, and the upper pressure plate is reset. Remove the crushed specimen and place a new specimen for the next test, testing at least 10 specimens.

The CCT test procedure is the same as the CMT method except that the specimen is placed in the center of the compression platen's lower platen along with the attachment using the CCA attachment.

Data query, printing and processing can perform data query and statistics on data, print test reports, and even connect to a PC for communication. Test data can be exported to an Excel table to facilitate batch data storage, processing, and analysis.

Shutdown Concluding Remarks This issue mainly introduces the CMT test and CCT test after corrugating of the base paper. Although these two tests are temporarily carried out by few companies in the country, with the continuous development of automation, in the near future, they will be the same as RCT, ECT as corrugated board physical performance testing projects. According to our sales summary, CMT and CCT's crepe equipment and test accessories were mainly exported to foreign countries through foreign trade, and some domestic customers also consulted this test item, but the basic purchase did not.
