3D printing exoskeleton mechanical arm prestige does not lose future soldiers

A little over a month ago, we shared the story of Alex Czech, an Australian man who 3D printed a mechanical exoskeleton. Initially, his goal was to create a universal joint, but as he progressed, he expanded the idea—first focusing on joints, then fingers, and eventually developing a futuristic exoskeleton for the arm. Fast forward a month later, and Czech has taken the project even further by designing a 3D-printed arm exoskeleton. It looks like he’s not stopping at just one limb—he might be aiming to build a full-body exoskeleton, much like the one seen in the movie *Elysium*, starring Matt Damon. However, achieving that would require more than just passion and hard work. For Czech, this project is driven entirely by his personal interest and love for 3D printing—his day job being in investor relations. The arm exoskeleton includes 13 separate parts in the palm area alone, showing how detailed and well-thought-out the design is. Similar to his previous hand exoskeleton, this new arm model is fully 3D printed, with only screws and metal washers added for structural support. Czech used the UP Plus 2 3D printer from Tiertime during the process. If you're interested in building your own, you can download the design files from his website—but it costs around $19.67. He described the latest version as the result of just a few hours of trial prints, proving how efficient and refined the design has become. Czech recommends using ABS material for printing, as it offers both comfort and durability. Additionally, the palm section is detachable and can be used separately, offering greater flexibility. With each iteration, Czech is pushing the boundaries of what's possible with 3D printing, and it's clear that his vision goes far beyond just a single limb.
